How to set up RTA’s

Step 1: Logging into the Panel

In order to set up RTA’s you will first need to log into the Panel. Once logged in, you will need to select the location where RTAs need to be set up:

Step 2: Navigating to the Realtime Alerts Section

Once selected, you will be brought to the page below, where you will need to select the SurfProtect option:

Once selected, as can be seen on the screenshot below, there should be a section under Real Time AlertsIf you select this option, a drop-down should appear showing View Incidents, Manage Contacts and History. As we're setting up RTAs you will need to select the Manage Contacts section.

(If you can not see the Realtime Alerts option, your account may not have RTA access enabled. Please contact our helpdesk on helpdesk@exa.net.uk to get this set up for you.)

Step 3: Adding RTA Contacts

Once you have selected manage contacts you will be brought to the page below. You need to select the “Add” option to add a new contact.

This will bring up an Add contact box where you can enter the details for anyone who requires alerts to be sent to.

Once you have entered the details for the users you want to add, select add and you will then be able to see that user in the contacts section. Any users found in the contacts section will be sent RTA once they are generated.

Step 4: Testing RTAs

Once the contacts have been created, you can then test the RTA to ensure that they are working as expected. To do this, on a device that is filtered, attempt to search for a keyword that is blocked under your filtering settings. For example, make a search for the term ‘bomb’ as this term is blocked by default.

Once searched, you should then receive a blocked page, and any contacts that you have entered should then receive an email similar to the one below:
