After listening to customer concerns around safeguarding pupils and staff when using school devices at home, we’ve released a new content filtering platform, Quantum+.
We’ve provided schools with internet services for almost 20 years, and in that time we’ve seen content filtering evolve from being a ‘nice to have’ to essential. So in 2004, we designed and built SurfProtect®. It’s a cloud-based, fully customisable service that provides effective safeguarding measures like:
- Network-level filtering
- AD integration
- User group filtering policies
- Search term filtering
- Downloadable reports
- BYOD filtering
- Application support
We’re constantly developing Quantum to ensure it continues to meet the government’s Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSiE) guidelines and The Prevent Duty.
However, online tools are developed daily, and there are always new threats to children’s safety. With all secondary school students having a tablet, and even more school devices being used at home, content filtering needs to adapt.
That’s why we've developed SurfProtect Quantum+
Now, schools and MATs don’t need to worry about content filtering on school devices when being used at home. Offering more advanced protection than SurfProtect Quantum, the new cloud-based platform allows schools to:
- Filter BYOD devices with per-user profiling and reporting through Captive Portal
- Login with Google Single Sign On and Azure Active Directory integration
- Filter devices even when at home with SurfProtect Anywhere
In addition, SurfProtect Quantum+ includes a throughput of upto 1Gb, and 1 year’s worth of reports and logs.
It’s never been more important for content filtering to adapt with the changing online landscape. Schools need future-proof tools that do more than react to the threats already there.
We will continue to develop SurfProtect because we believe the internet should be a safe place for children to learn and develop their skills.
