Exa Summer Partner Event 2022

On Friday 1st July, we invited our partners to the first Exa Summer Partner Event in three years. So we had a knees up!

Before the pandemic, we hosted an annual event for our partners. Sadly, due to lockdowns and Covid, this event had to be cancelled in 2020 and 2021. Now, with the world starting to move forward, we decided it was time to celebrate. We really wanted to thank our partners and showcase the work we have done to develop our products and services and improve their customers’ experience with Exa. The day was split into two parts. Starting in the afternoon, we had a series of presentations from Exa staff and guest speakers who provided valuable information on a variety of topics.

The Presentations

Exa Partner Event 2022

Mark Cowgill, our commercial director, discussed the current market, addressing the cost of living crisis and the pressure this is putting on businesses. He also announced the launch of our new product - SurfProtect® Quantum+, before handing over to Samia Hussain, one of our Support Technicians.

Samia guided us through SurfProtect® Quantum+ with a series of demonstrations showcasing the products' advanced features and how they would benefit a school.

Nick Strutt presented our new Protect & Connect® package. He explained how the offering is ideal for schools looking to implement market leading connectivity, security and safeguarding tools and combine them under one invoice. The bundle includes:

Alan Thompson discussed hi-impact‘s new tool for educators called The Host. This includes a library of education resources, subject leader toolkits and CPD for teachers.

Directors Mark and Michael also introduced Exa’s new partner portal, which will allow partners easy access to resources and order information, as well as the ability to submit and track support tickets.

Chris Allen from Securus showed us how their monitoring can help protect children in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSiE) guidelines.

Our Marketing Manager, Cassie Irving gave partners an update on Exa’s growing marketing team, and the support partners can receive going forward.

Alan O’Donohoe talked about The Exa Foundation and the ways Exa customers can benefit from free, quality workshops on internet safety.

Exa is proud to partner with the Bradford City of Culture 2025 Bid team, and we were delighted to welcome Bid Director, Richard Shaw, as a guest speaker.

And of course there were nibbles and bubbly in between!

Exa Awards

To really celebrate the work our partners do, we had a small awards presentation. The winners were:

Best Customer Retention
365 Computing – had 100% retention for 2022
Best Product Beta Tester
EasiPC – for their work on helping us develop SurfProtect

Now for the really fun bit!

Once the presentations were done, we had a short break so staff could set up for the evening do. We brought in 2 bands, food trucks, arcade games, a selfie booth, air hockey and beer pong – After all the work, we could tuk-tuk into a pizza!

Even though the rain came and drenched the deck chair, we still got out there and danced the night away. It was great to let our hair down and talk with our partners.  For all the staff joining us this year, it was a great introduction to all our partners.

We can’t wait for the next event – Thanks to all our partners and staff for making the Exa Summer Partner Event a success!

Is DarkLight connectivity best suited to you?

Dark fibre is perfect if you are looking for a potentially limitless, ultrafast connection with complete flexibility and control.

If you fully rely on the internet, a dark fibre connection could be the best option for you.

Is Leased Line connectivity best suited to you?

Leased Lines are best suited to you if you have high bandwidth requirements and need a reliable, uncontended service.

It is ideal for you if you regularly carry out large uploads and downloads, use cloud based services and a VoIP telephone system as well as video conferencing, for everyday communication.

Is GPON connectivity best suited to you?

GPON is a great choice for you if you need gigabit speeds but don’t need them to be symmetrical. It is becoming more widely available across the UK but may not be immediately available to you yet.

Is Rural Fibre connectivity best suited to you?

If you want to make the move to full fibre, but are based in a rural area, this option is for you.

Is FTTP connectivity best suited to you?

If you have a number of users who use cloud-based applications to upload and download data on a daily basis, but don’t transfer large amounts of data, FTTP might be your best option.

Is Gfast connectivity best suited to you?

If your line cannot support a minimum of 100Mbps, this connection is not for you. Gfast must meet the speed as a minimum.

If your line meets this need, and you’re looking for an ultrafast, consistent and reliable connection without the hassle and upheaval of construction work – this could be a good fit.

It’s worth noting that Gfast is a stop gap to FTTP, and is not a technology that is likely to be around for a long time.

Is FTTC connectivity best suited to you?

If you need more bandwidth but don’t really need a guaranteed speed, FTTC could be for you. It is widely available throughout the UK, making it suitable as a main connection. As this connection provides higher speeds than ADSL, it is also a good option for a back up to a leased line.

As with ADSL, once the PSTN is turned off in 2025/26, FTTC will become virtually obsolete and at the very least you will require FTTP to remain connected.

Is DSL connectivity best suited to you?

DSL connections offer very limited bandwidth so it might be right for you if you typically use the internet for less data-intensive tasks. If you’re sending emails, browsing the web, downloading very small files and working with small amounts of data – you should be fine with DSL.

It is worth noting connections based on copper wire, like DSL, will be switched off in the UK by Openreach, with a phased approach due to begin at the end of 2025. If you don’t have a fibre connection at the moment, you’ll need to upgrade this as well as move to a VoIP telephone system.
